I know, starfly or me Dan Mathis posting about an IPhone, instead of my first choice of a mobile platform. This world or zone will come to an end lol! No let’s get serious here, I’m posting this board for those who are leaning toward an IPhone7+. Pros, large screen, longer battery even when the screen curtain is on and typing, the keyboard feels large and abit spread out when typing. I personally have small hands but love the larger size of an IPhone. When a blindy turns off the screen two days flat can be gotten out of the battery. That’s more than I can say for an IPhone s6! Well stand by for a 6S but normal usage no. The home button does not in a sense clikc but truly provides a voiceover user a vibration when the button sensor is pressed. For those who wonder, tripble click home was not taken from voiceover, the feature works as advertised. Pressing or clicking as it may be called three times does invoke voiceover. Now cons for those who wonder what may not jive with an IPhone s6 user. No Headphone Jack built in but a adapter comes with the phone. Some may not like the larger size of an IPhone S7+ but I personally like its size. Outside of what has been written above no other cons here. I hope this helps a blind user who is seriously considering an IPhone 7+.
Dan Mathis
Yep. Gonna rain in the sunshine.
Laughing.
I have the 7 regular and find it same as you report.
The things I'll add I believe are better over the 6 and 6S are the two speakers now.
It is much easier to deal with if you are say out on the street and don't have a headset, or just in general to operate it.
That home button, or any other 3D touch sensitivity can be set to your liking, so that's a really good thing.
I don't even miss the fact it doesn't have a headphone jack, because Apple provide the adapter, and I believe it actually improves the sound quality if you have a quality headset for music listening.
You're now getting a straight digital signal.
I am interested in how the Bluetooth with this special chip will sound, and plan to get a pair to see.
These with some vision will find the screen better, and the night viewing feature is nice as well.
The only benefits I'd see in the plus was if you like as the first poster says that wider keyboard, and you also will get a biger surfus if you use the braille feature.
If not, I'd go with the regular.
If you're blind, the fancy camera isn't worth the extra 100 bucks.
I saw an article that listed some of the specs. I don't remember them specifically but I'm thinking I saw that the 7 plus has more ram and a faster processer. If I can find the article, I'll post it here.
I'm wondering if the better camera will help KNFB Reader work better.
yes, it does help the KNFB get a better picture when OCRing. I'll post a sample from dropbox here tomorrow. Like I pointed out, I wanted the larger battery and larger screen for typing purposes. I'll admit here, my native mobile platform got me used to large phones lol.
Dan Mathis
So forereel
wrote in regards to Bluetooth headsets "I am interested in how the Bluetooth with this special chip will sound, and plan to get a pair to see." Well reporting back do to the fact I have had a pare of LG tones for a while. I can walk around my two bedroom apartment with no braking up of the audio. One exception is when I'm sitting in my dining room but still barely any notice. Voiceover still has a mono voice when using my LG tones but music is in stario.

Lastly the link to the information above link: http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_7_plus-8065.php
Ram and processor are the same on both models.
Only the camera is different, and of course it requires a larger battery due to having to power the larger screen.
I understand that doesn't translate to longer between both models.
I didn't think about the reader working better. I don't use it, but that might be worth the extra 100, maybe.
You see, the feature, and I can't think of what it is called off the top of my head, last year that made the reader work better is now on the regular 7.
Before I spent that extra 100, I'd want to know if that feature is the reason the 7+ seems to work better.
It was on the 6S+ last year, but not on the 6S.
To me that extra size just means I've got to find more room for it.
Laughing.
What I was referring to on the Bluetooth hadphones, is Apple will release the Ear pods, and also Beats has some models with a special chip receiver that is said to make the quality better on the iPhone 7/7+.
You need either model of headphones to open the special feature.
It doesn't work on other brands.
That is what I'm interested to hear how it works.
I'm thinking of picking up BeatsX headset for the test.
Not sure if I'll keep it, but I'd love to see what they are talking about.
Oh, and one thing if you are a music lover.
The quality is up to 320 now.
It is noticeable the improvement.
And yes the feature that makes the camera work better for the reader is on both models.
So, now all you need do is buy one or the other.
Smile.
I thought I’d post about this sense I went on about it.
The technology I’m speaking about in the Bluetooth headsets is the custom-designed Apple W1 chip.
Check out this page about the AirPods, and you’ll understand more about it.
Some Beats models have it too.
From what I read the BeatsX are just as good, but at a lower price.
Except for the fancy tapping and them turning off when they are not in your ears.
So, I’m totally interested.
Should just try the AirPods, right?
Laughing.
The problem with that is I’m sure I’d like them, so that sound of plastic or paper sliding from my pocket is heard and well.
Probably shouldn’t try something unless I’m willing to pay.
Laughing.
Anyway for you that don’t mind money leaving check this page.
http://www.apple.com/airpods/
Okay, Okay, Okay.
Last post about this feature anyway.
Laughing.
What does all that stuff have to do with anything in my previous post?
Bluetooth headphones just can’t match the sound quality of wired.
If you take the $300 pair of Bluetooth, and the $300 wired pair of the same brand of quality headphones, the wired are going to simply be better.
I don’t mind wires, but in some situations, wireless are just better.
So, if I have to have a wireless headset, and it claims to be better sounding then the crop, I want to hear this new technology.
Geek stuff.
Smile.
Awe, got ya mine are older LG tones from about two years ago. So no, it will not have the chip that apple spoke about at WDC.
The iphone 7 plus does have more ram than the regular iphone 7. 3 GB for the iphone 7 plus compared to 2 GB for the iPhone 7.
Here's an article that talks about it:
http://m.gsmarena.com/iphone_7_plus_packs_3gb_of_ram_indeed_geekbench_listing_says-news-20434.php
I read the article.
That be hard to prove unless you took your phone apart.
Apple isn't saying, so really an interesting fact or idea.
I guess if you played really high powered games, and had both models equally configured, you could maybe see a difference.
We the blind won't.
Interesting article however.
Food for thought.
That's true. More RAM does benefit us if we multitask as the phone can keep more running tasks in the RAM memory. This results in better performance when switching from app to app as the phone doesn't have to reload the app into memory again. iOS is pretty efficient in that case as it is so not too sure about how beneficial that is in real-world usage but for people who run many apps at the same time, I believe they will feel the difference.
Anyway, I believe that the iPhone 7 plus does have more RAM as iFixit did a tear-down and they listed the different chips and components in it and the memory module does seem to fit.
But yes, the everyday user will not notice this and it probably wouldn't make a difference to them.
Anyone experienced/heard about the slower performance of the 32 GB storage compared to those of higher capacities in the iPhone 7?
You know I used a 32GB 7 model.
I have a 128GB model.
When I closed up all the running apps on the 32 model, that seemed to fix the slight delay I felt it had from mine.
The person that owns that phone doesn't didn't know how to close the running apps.
Maybe how you have your device setup too matters.
I never thought it might be caused by the storage amount however.
Interesting.
Well! Here’s an article that may support what you think too about 32GB models verses higher storage models.
All really interesting.
I wouldn’t think anyone would be transferring large files to the 32GB model, but maybe so?
You clear one and download another.
For use, maybe large books, or files of music or even movies to listen to might be a factor is a little less speed matters anyway.
Not to me, but maybe your $100 buys a little more extra over just storage, and that is an interesting thought as to why.
I have enough trying to fill my 128GB phone, so I wouldn't buy the 256 for a bit more speed.
But, it matters to me as to sameness or quality.
Like in your post, you showed maybe the plus has 3 gigs or ram.
Apple, if making these widely different should post specs unless it matters as to how the models preform.
https://www.cnet.com/news/32gb-iphone-7-it-might-be-slower-than-you-think/
In some respects, Apple is beginning to catch up to Android and its advanced hardware. For instance, until the release of the 7 and 7+, maybe I am incorrect, but do not think a 1080P res display existed. Android devices have had better processors from the very beginning, but Apple is certainly increasing the amount of memory. As Wayne indicated, however, how is one to know unless the phone is disassembled?
Regarding wired versus wireless audio, wired always is going to reign superior. There are no delays to speak of, and an awesome pair of headphones to invest in are the Sony MDRZ7s. Combine that with an Asgard 2 amplifier, and you have killer audio performance. One disadvantage to the amp though is it lacks portability.
Here's another article that talks about the difference between the storage speeds between the different capacities:
http://www.macrumors.com/2016/10/18/iphone-7-32gb-slower-data-write-speeds/
I think users feel the difference in speed when the iPhone is writing to its internal storage as well, that would be a use case that more users will face rather than copying large files to the iPhone.
I totally agree with the point made about the difference in RAM between the iPhone 7 and 7 plus and that we need to disassemble the phone to actually tell if that is true but some sites have posted guides and articles about them disassembleing the iPhones and revealing exactly what chips and ICs are in the phone, the storage module and its capacity, the RAM module and how big it is, the exact capacity of their batteries, what audio chips are used and so on and so forth. I find this to be interesting reading as it gives a much clearer picture of the specs of the new iPhones.
Apple has never been known for releasing exact technical specifications to the consumers. "25 percent increase in battery life", "one and a half hours of extra battery life", "40 percent increase in performance compared to the previous generation", this statements are generic and does paint a better picture for the common user who doesn't care about the exact details and just want their iPhone to work well but I think knowing some of this info gives us a better idea of how our devices operate and why it behaves in a certain way.
Hope that makes sense.
That article makes sense. I knew the fact about the SSD's but never thought about it related to the iPhone.
People are saying that wired is the best way to go now, because no one has yet invented a way that will be superior to wired speakers. Let's not forget that people use to look down on wireless networks once upon a time too at its inception. I firmly believe that if companies start pushing for better development of wireless headphones, ear phones or the like, soon wireless will start to outperform wired.
I was going to get a 7 plus until I held one in my tiny hands. lol That thing is huge. lol I upgraded from a 5S to a 7 today though and absolutely love it.
So to make this board fair in regards to my postings from the dark side of the
OS spectrum, out of all of the 5 series other then the 5C and 6 IPhone series,
I find my 7+ my favorite IOS device so far. The size of my device, keyboard
feels silky smooth when typing and IOS10 feels very snappy on the hardware
when running more then 4 apps.
